Not getting enough sleep at night? One should get a minimum of six to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep at night. Lack of sleep or habitual sleeplessness is known as Insomnia. This is not a disease in the true sense of the word but a symptom of many other bigger ailments.
Why are you not able to sleep well? Several factors are attributed to this. It can be due to hectic lifestyle or physiological imbalances. Unusual schedules, depression, illness, stress, aging, medications, chronic pain, etc cause lack of sleep.
First, determine the root cause. Various smells cause certain emotions, memories and feelings. Using certain essential oils create a sense of harmony and relaxation.

Bathing: Avoid taking a bath immediately before going to bed. Finish your bathing at least an hour prior to bed. Add a drop of lavender or Chamomile oil to the bathwater. This gives a moisturizing effect.
Bed Linen Spray: Make a solution of your favorite aroma essential oil, water and few drops of hydrosol. Create a spray and spray the bed sheets with this solution.
Aromatic Cotton Ball: Add a drop of lavender or Roman Chamomile Oil to a tissue or cotton ball and at bedtime place it near your pillow. It is calming as well as helps to fight stress and depression.
Massage: Body massage increases blood circulation. Therefore it should not be done just before bedtime. However just before going to sleep you can massage your legs and feet with a massage lotion or oil.
Herbal tea: Herbal teas like that of chamomile or valerian or passion flower are soothing and give you good sleep.
Avoid refreshing Essential Oils: Some essential oils like rosemary, cypress, grapefruit, peppermint, lemon are revitalizing. Avoid using these as they worsen sleeplessness.
