World Asthma Day: Healthy Lifestyle Tips To Treat Asthma

World Asthma Day is celebrated on the first Tuesday of May every year. This year, it is being celebrated on 3rd May, 2016. It aims to raise the awareness about prevention and treatment of asthma. Once you are aware of the disease and know about the right therapy you can win against fighting the disease.

According to the estimates, it suggests about 300 million people suffer from asthma worldwide. It is really shocking to know that almost 10 percent of the number comes from India. The number is estimated to grow by approximately 100 million by 2025.

As per the Asthma Society of India, nearly 25% of the Indian population suffers from allergy and 5% suffers from allergy that leads to asthma.

Asthma is a chronic disease of the air passages of the lungs that narrows them and obstruct the airways resulting in breathing disorders. The most common symptoms are coughing, nasal congestion, shortness of breath & tightness in chest.

However, the exact cause of this disease is not clear but it is believed that there are certain factors that trigger the disease. It may be genetic or environmental including air pollution, chlorine in pools, environmental irritants such as dust and smoke.In order to deal with the condition you should avoid the triggers that causes irritation in lungs.

Healthy Tips to Tackle Asthma

Avoid Triggers & Allergens - Try to avoid the exposure to the allergens present in the environment such as smoke, dust mites, pollensetc as it may cause allergic asthma. Always stay away from the triggers such as exposure to cold or dry air or exercise,   to prevent asthmatic attacks.

Wear a Mask - If you are sensitive to extreme weather or pollution, then it is better to wear a face mask to prevent the allergic asthma.

Consume Dairy free food - Many people suffer from food hypersensitivity that triggers the immune response cause leading to inflammation. It may affect the airways resulting in asthmatic attacks.Thus, its better to keep dairy products off your reach.

Physical Exercise - Check out the types of exercise that suits your body. As daily exercise can make your heart and lungs strong which in turn relieves from breathing disorders.

Healthy Weight - Maintain a healthy weight as being obese can increase the risk of the disease as well as other problems.

Healthy Balanced Diet - Consult with your doctor and eat a healthy balanced diet including fresh and unprocessed foods as some people have food allergy too.

Probiotic Diet - Include probiotics in your diet as adding the supplements containing bacteria can boost your immune system and prevent the inflammatory response.

Increase Vitamins intake - Many a times, you miss out few vitamins which not only support your immune system but also control inflammation. Make sure that you get the recommended dose of vitamins.

Keep Your Nasal Passage Clear - Whenever you feel like your nasal passage is choked and you feel difficulty in breathing, clear your nasal passage using a saline spray as it may reduce the pressure on airways and helps you breathe easier.
